Oh gosh what should I say... In someways I'm really critical of what I've done and see all the things I'd like to change and re-do. But I've already spent an absolutely ungodly amount of time (which I won't confess exactly how long) and simply must stop. On the other hand, I've never done anything even remotely close to this ever before, so in that sense it's really not bad. It's very much an evolution drawing. Meaning, if it looks like four different people worked on this, it was just me learning and transforming.

Anyway, the erosion fan highlighted the critter nicely. I don't really know much about pokemon, but I found this one, pachirisu, and I liked it. So, now Otori-Katie has a pachirisu if she didn't have one before. ^..^ Hopefully she will like it.

I did this entirely in Painter11. I had wanted to use the water color brushes, but I couldn't get them to perform the way it shows in the book. So I switched to the colored pencil tools instead. I still had to tweak them, and the erasers, and the blenders before they would behave reasonably like the real thing. Even though I'm a bit of a hack, learning art is easier with real media is easier than in the computer. You get several bonuses of being able to go faster, the ability to cheat sometimes, and it's easier to go to print, but the actual work is trickier. I'm going back to real pencils for a while.


Lastly, credits... Otori is Otori2-2's character; (but i completely made up the look, so if it's totally wrong, it's all my fault -_- ) Pachirisus belong to whatever company it is that does pokemon. And... I drew the picture using recycled electrons, elbow grease, and lots of concentration. p:
